Curriculum Connection:
This collaborative activity supports the Kindergarten Program across multiple learning frames:
- Belonging and Contributing: Children engage in teamwork as they hunt for dandelions and contribute to a shared art piece, building a sense of community and cooperation.
- Demonstrating Literacy and Mathematics Behaviours: Students use spatial awareness and counting skills when placing dandelions into holes and discussing shapes and patterns in nature.
- Problem Solving and Innovating: The mixed-media lion mane invites creative thinking and artistic experimentation while reinforcing fine motor development.
- Demonstrating Knowledge of the World: Students explore characteristics of living things (plants and animals), learning to recognize and identify dandelions, and making connections between lions and their habitats.
This nature-based art experience encourages curiosity, physical movement, environmental awareness, and creativity—rooted in a joyful and hands-on learning process.
